Dr. Xiangming Xiao is a Professor of Ecology and Remote Sensing at the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology (http://mpbio.ou.edu) at University of Oklahoma (OU), and he is the director of the Earth Observation and Modelling Facility (EOMF) at OU. He has authored or co-authored 200+ peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters. Dr. Xiao has been involved in interdisciplinary studies in the areas of geospatial technologies, land cover and land use changes, terrestrial carbon cycle, wild bird ecology, water quality, hydrology and climate as well as ecology and epidemiology of infectious diseases.
Dr. Xiao has developed the satellite-based Vegetation Photosynthesis Model (VPM) that estimates gross primary production of vegetation across the world, and it is widely used in a variety of ecosystem types. In this presentation, he will introduce the most recent progress in improving the VPM model and the development of a new global gross primary production products.
